Fr Michaelís 35 years of service celebrations(Dec 09)

The 13 December 2009, we celebrated Fr Michael Walsh’s 35th Anniversary of Ordination. Father is an Ashfield boy and received all his sacraments at St Vincent’s including ordination by Bishop David Cremin.

The Parish presented Father with a Stole and blessed him in his vocation, especially to us.

After the 10am there was a morning tea and after the 6pm mass there was a barbeque with the 6pm choir singing Christmas carols.

First Communion 2009

It has been an uplifting and energising experience for our whole parish family  to support and prepare 36 children and their families to receive their First Holy Communion.

Great thanks go to Joy Fischer, Jess Niumataiwalu, Mary Guerin, Therese Horvath and Paul Weber who on our behalf, led small groups of children and parents over the last four weeks in preparation for these celebrations of First Communion. The children have glowed with the prayers and good wishes bestowed on them, and as one parent has noted ‘First Communion has been a real family celebration!”

We continue to pray for these communicants as they journey in faith with Jesus.

The Vincentian Vision

We had a great time with Fr Richard Benson CM from the United States on 15th April at St Vincent's Parish at Ashfield. Approximately 70 parishioners, DCs and CMs attended and enjoyed his talk. The topic was about The Vision of Vincent - Recognising and Responding to Christ in the Poor, followed by celebration of the Eucharist.

Some photos of the mass are available here!

We rejoiced at Easter with the Baptism of 4 adults and the reception of two others into our Church. These six had been meeting together for many months as part of the Catechumenate (RCIA). We congratulate Tolini, Tania, Adam, Joseph, Anna May and Kimberley.
